Motherboard parts and Functions

Motherboard determine whether or not the performance of your PC. Function of the motherboard is the place to put the components of a computer, connect the components to be run as its function as a regulator and the current flowing into each component.
In one motherboard, there are some parts with their respective functions. Parts of the motherboard include:
1. BIOS (Basic Input / Ouput System)
BIOS is the motherboard serves to connect the existing software on the computer with the hardware installed on the motherboard. BIOS itself is the acronym for Basic Input / Output System.
In the BIOS there is a program that can be used to govern how a component is installed on the motherboard to work.
2. Socket / Slot Processor
Order processor can be placed easily, then disediakanlah socket on the motherboard. Socket is made up of the holes are adapted to the foot of processors that can be placed on the motherboard.
There are many kinds of socket on the market. For example, socket 478, socket 775 and LGA socket for Intel processor output, and also a socket AM2 or AM3 socket for AMD processor output. Each socket has the holes are different from one another.
But there is also a motherboard that provides the processor socket holes that can be used for some type of processor. For example, coupled with the socket 478 socket 775.
Since each processor socket requires a different form, is important to know to buy a motherboard, socket type suitable for the processor you have. Have not been using an older motherboard processor socket, but still use the processor slot.
3. RAM slots
RAM or the memory is placed on the motherboard RAM slot. RAM slots are used depending on the type of RAM. For an older motherboards typically use SDRAM slot while using the latest types of DDR3 slot.
4. Expansion Slot
Other parts of motherboard expansion slots. Function of the expansion slot is to put the components used to increase computer performance. Typically the device that is added is a multimedia device, such as VGA cards which is useful to add to the sharpness of the display, sound card, and others.
The expansion slots consist of various types including PCIExpress slot, PCI, or AGP. Each type of slot it has advantages and disadvantages of each one depends on the needs of computer usage.
5. CMOS battery
CMOS battery on the motherboard to function as an alternate power source when the computer is not connected to a power source. These batteries are very useful for the motherboard to power in identifying the components installed on the motherboard.
6. Connectors
Part of the motherboard is no less important is the connector. There are different types of connectors that serve to connect the motherboard to other devices. Several types of connectors include:
  •     Power connector to the motherboard connector serves as a power source
  •     Connector serves to connect the motherboard sound with the sound device,
  •     Handy USB connector to connect the motherboard to the USB
  •     SATA connector linking the motherboard to the hard drive useless

Need diperhatkan that the more components installed on the motherboard, the power needed to operate the computer will be even greater. Therefore, the computer motherboard can run stable and last a long time, also provide power supply in accordance with power requirements.
If the power is gained power supply less than demand, then the motherboard likely will be broken and the computer will run unstable.
